What We Clean

Front of House

  • Dining room: tables, chairs, booths, banquettes and high chairs
  • Floors: sweeping, mopping and degreasing, including under tables and booths
  • Host stand, waiting area, entry glass and door push plates
  • Bar top, bar rail, bar floor and mats
  • Condiment, cream and sugar stations, menu boards and pastry case glass
  • Light fixtures, vents and ledges dusted on a rotation

Back of House & Restrooms

  • Kitchen floor degreasing, including along walls, under prep tables and around floor drains
  • Walls, splash zones and non-food-contact hard surfaces
  • Restroom cleaning, disinfection and restocking of soap, paper towels and toilet tissue
  • High-touch disinfection: door handles, switches, POS screens, card readers
  • Trash and recycling removal, can washing and liner replacement

Kitchen exhaust hood and duct cleaning is a specialized, fire-code-certified service handled by a dedicated vendor. We focus on floors, hard surfaces, dining rooms and restrooms, and schedule around your hood-cleaning dates.

Cafe and Coffee Shop Cleaning

A cafe gets dirty differently from a dinner restaurant. The mess is less grease and more milk, sugar, espresso grounds and foot traffic, and it comes in a long morning rush rather than a dinner service. Most cafes open early, so the cleaning window is the evening after close, not the night before a late opening.

What we put on a cafe checklist:

  • Floors behind the counter. Spilled milk and syrup turn sticky and sour fast on tile and rubber mats. Mats are lifted, the floor underneath is cleaned, and the mats are washed
  • Espresso and grinder area surroundings. Grounds collect along the back counter, under equipment and along baseboards. We clean the surrounding surfaces and floor; your baristas keep doing their own machine backflush and food-contact cleaning
  • Condiment bar and pastry case. Sugar, lids, sleeves and fingerprints on the glass are what guests see first
  • Restrooms. A single cafe restroom can serve hundreds of guests a day. It is usually the room that drives a bad review
  • Seating. Laptop customers mean more crumbs, cups and cords under tables and along outlets
  • Hard floors. Many cafes in older strip centers sit on vinyl composition tile (VCT). Regular burnishing and a periodic strip and wax keep it from looking gray. In Austin see our page on VCT floor waxing

Bakeries add flour dust on ledges and vents, and sheet-pan grease on the back-of-house floor, so they usually need kitchen-style degreasing as well as cafe-style front-of-house cleaning.

How Often Each Area Needs Cleaning

Every venue is different, so treat this as a starting point we adjust at the walkthrough. Volume, menu and floor type change the answer more than square footage does.

AreaFull-service restaurant or barCafe, coffee shop or bakery
Dining room, tables, high-touch pointsEvery night after closeEvery evening after close
RestroomsEvery night, plus daytime checks by staffEvery evening, plus daytime checks by staff
Kitchen floor degreasingEvery nightSeveral times a week; nightly for bakeries
Behind-the-counter floors and matsEvery nightEvery evening
Vents, light fixtures, high ledgesMonthlyMonthly
Hard-floor burnish or deep scrubMonthly to quarterlyMonthly to quarterly
Strip and wax (VCT floors)Once or twice a yearOnce or twice a year
Exhaust hood and duct (specialist vendor)Per NFPA 96, by cooking volumeOften low volume; per NFPA 96

A cafe that is too small for nightly service often does well on three or four evenings a week, with staff handling the in-between nights. We can price both and show you the difference.

What Texas Food Rules Say About Cleaning

Restaurants in Texas operate under the Texas Food Establishment Rules (25 Texas Administrative Code, Chapter 228), which are based on the FDA Food Code. A few points in them shape how a cleaning program should run:

  • Clean when food is least exposed. The FDA Food Code (section 6-501.12) says physical facilities are to be cleaned as often as needed to keep them clean, and that routine cleaning should happen when the least amount of food is exposed, such as after closing. Spills are the exception. This is the main reason restaurant cleaning is done after hours
  • Restrooms must stay supplied. Handwashing sinks need soap and a way to dry hands, toilet rooms need toilet tissue, and toilet rooms used by women need a covered waste receptacle. Restocking is part of every visit we make
  • Floors, walls and ceilings must be kept clean. Inspectors look at grease buildup in corners, under equipment and around drains, not only at open floor
  • Pest control depends on cleaning. Food debris under booths and behind equipment is what attracts pests, so those areas are on our checklist every visit

Inspections are done by the local health authority: San Antonio Metropolitan Health District in San Antonio and Austin Public Health in Austin. Both cities publish restaurant inspection results online, which is one more reason a clean restroom and floor matter. Professional cleaning supports these standards, but food handling, food-contact surfaces and equipment sanitizing stay with your staff and your food manager.

Restaurant Cleaning in San Antonio

We clean restaurants, cafes and bars across San Antonio, from downtown and the River Walk, the Pearl and Southtown to Alamo Heights, Stone Oak and the 1604 corridor. Downtown and River Walk venues often close late and need the crew in after midnight. Stone Oak and north-side strip-center cafes usually close in the afternoon or early evening and get cleaned before the overnight hours.

Restaurant Cleaning in Austin

In Austin we work with restaurants, coffee shops and bars from downtown and East Austin to South Congress, North Loop and the Domain area. Austin has a large number of independent cafes and counter-service spots in older buildings, which means a lot of VCT and sealed concrete floors that need regular burnishing as well as nightly cleaning.

New Braunfels and San Marcos

We also cover restaurants and cafes in New Braunfels, including Gruene, and in San Marcos. River season brings heavy weekend traffic, so many venues there move to more frequent service from late spring through summer.

What We Need to Quote Your Restaurant or Cafe

A restaurant quote depends on a handful of things. Having them ready makes the walkthrough short:

  • Approximate square footage, split between dining room and kitchen if you know it
  • Number of restrooms
  • Your closing time on each day of the week and when your opening crew arrives
  • Floor types: tile, quarry tile, VCT, sealed concrete, wood or carpet
  • How many nights a week you want service
  • Anything you already outsource, such as hood cleaning, pest control or mat service

Send these through the quote form and choose "Restaurant / Cafe" as the service, or call (512) 919-9810.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does restaurant cleaning include?

Dining room cleaning (tables, chairs, booths, floors), kitchen floor degreasing and non-food-contact hard surfaces, restroom cleaning and restocking, entry and front-of-house cleaning, high-touch disinfection, and trash removal. Scope is set to your venue and usually runs after close.

Do you clean cafes and coffee shops?

Yes. Cafes, coffee shops and bakeries are a regular part of our work in San Antonio and Austin. The checklist focuses on behind-the-counter floors and mats, condiment stations, pastry case glass, seating and restrooms, usually in the evening after close.

Do you clean after hours so we don't lose service time?

Yes. We clean after close or overnight. That is also what the FDA Food Code, which the Texas Food Establishment Rules are based on, recommends: routine cleaning when the least amount of food is exposed, such as after closing.

How often should a restaurant be professionally cleaned?

Most full-service restaurants and bars need the dining room, restrooms and kitchen floor cleaned every night. Many cafes do well with three to five evenings a week, with staff covering the other nights. Hard-floor burnishing is usually monthly to quarterly, and VCT strip and wax once or twice a year.

Do you do kitchen exhaust hood cleaning?

No. Hood and duct cleaning is a specialized, fire-code-certified service done by a dedicated vendor on a schedule set by NFPA 96 according to cooking volume. We clean floors, hard surfaces, dining rooms and restrooms, and work around your hood-cleaning dates.

Can regular cleaning help with health inspections?

It helps with the parts inspectors check on the physical facility: clean floors, walls and restrooms, supplied handwashing sinks and less debris for pests. Food handling, food-contact surfaces and equipment sanitizing stay the responsibility of your staff and food manager.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Texas Sparkle Services LLC is licensed and insured, and our crews are trained and vetted, which matters when a team has keys to your restaurant after hours.
